Great to have you back on board for day 7. I want to share something with you called the Curve of Enjoyment. So let's just assume it's Christmas Day and I'll share it with you now. How does the Curve of Enjoyment work? So basically this is a Curve of Enjoyment, this the positive experience and this is the negative experience. This is assuming that you go there; you arrive so everyone opens the gifts and the bell curve of enjoyment is going up. You take it on through to lunch, things are going well people are eating their lunch - it's all looking great. We come across to desert and |
everything is going swimmingly well okay. From this point, it can be that things decline and you may or you may not work out that okay you know because based on previous years that is where it is declining.
Time to Leave, or not?
So it's maybe the time to get out before things keep on going. And this is the difference between going away from Christmas Day lunch going " that was great! We really had a great time and hey we’re looking forward to next year" and all the relationships are fantastic.
Repeat The “Usual” Christmas
Or the flip side in coming away from Christmas Day going "I told you, I was giving you the hint that it was time to go". It when, oh - let's pick on Aunt and Uncle again, I don't know why. Let's make it the brother and sister this time – “your the brother and sister they got their musical instruments out and they were there were going for it all over again. You know we hate sitting through all that". Whatever it may be there are going to be little intricacies in your family or friend groups but when that happening - it's heading down on the Curve of Enjoyment.
What’s the Desired Outcome?
You know it doesn't have to be Utopia but I'm putting out there do want to walk away going "we stayed long enough. We enjoyed each others company and we left. And we are ready to come back next year". Or "oh, thank goodness that's another Christmas Day we had to do". I'm just putting some concepts out there. So maybe work out your own Happiness Bell Curve, consult the Hierarchy of Individual Priority to work out what matters to each person. And thank for being on board, it's great to have you this far into the journey of Day 7 of the 12 Days of Christmas and I look forward to the next one.
